The Helicarrier was one of the main hero pieces in the experience that I took from start to finish. The original ILM asset was over 30 million triangles. I rebuilt the entire asset from scratch, focusing on details that affected the silhouette from the player's limited point of view. The asset was fully retextured using a combination of unique bakes and a masked trim sheet for some tiling structural elements, such as railings and metal beams. Due to restrictions on drawcalls, I created a master material that would switch between UDIMs based on an If statement in the material. This allowed us to have multiple 4k texture sets while using only one material slot in Unreal.
